Teams without the chaos
Teams chaos is a notification problem first: mute every channel by default, unmute the three that pay your salary, and batch the rest into two daily digests. Status messages («heads down till 15:00») prevent more interruptions than any setting.
Meeting hygiene: agenda in the invite or no meeting, cameras optional but microphones muted, decisions written into the channel thread before hanging up — otherwise the call never happened. Files belong in the channel Files tab with dated names, not in chat scrollback where search goes to die.
Guests and externals
Every guest sees more than you think: audit guest access quarterly and remove finished contractors the week they leave, not «later». For one-off collaboration prefer a scheduled meeting link over adding a permanent guest — temporary access should actually expire.
Recordings people watch
Nobody rewatch an hour. Record with transcription on, then post the three-bullet summary plus timestamps instead of the raw file — consumption goes from zero to most of the team. Store recordings in the channel, not in personal chats that leave with their owner.
